Contact us

  • Are you DBS checked, insured, risk assessed and first aid trained?
I have a current DBS check, I have the relevant insurance and up to date first aid training. I am trained to risk assess my groups, sites and activities and my risk assessments, child safeguarding and health and safety policies available upon request. I am trained in information sharing protocols and in managing data. I am GDPR compliant. I have been running groups for years and know it is important for parents, carers and organisations to feel confident that there are robust and up to date health and safety and safeguarding policies in place. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the above or would like evidence or certification.
  • My child has additional needs, can they access your forest schools?
I do my very best to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all children and strongly believe that nature is for everyone. I have a lot of experience of working with children and adults with special educational needs. I am always happy to chat about the best way I can support you and your child in accessing my sessions just drop me a line. If you feel you or your child may need additional support in accessing the sessions please contact me to discuss.
  • What happens if the weather is bad?
Sessions will be cancelled in extreme weather. You will be notified by text or phone call before 9:00 AM if I have to cancel and the session will be re-booked or refunded. In most cases a bit of rain etc. is manageable and can often be fun! Please do make sure you check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothing.
  • What should I bring?
Please ensure your group is dressed appropriately depending upon the weather. Typically for sessions where the weather is likely to be cold or wet you will need to bring warm waterproof clothing, including warm socks, gloves and a hat. Water proof trousers are highly recommended. In warmer weather a hat and sunscreen. Legs and arms should always be covered. Sturdy footwear is a must. No sandals or open toed shoes are allowed for health and safety reasons. I provide tea, coffee, squash and biscuits but please bring any additional snack and a water bottle. I would appreciate it if you could bring a sealable, reusable cup for tea and coffee. Please advise me of any food or other allergies in advance. Whilst very rarely needed it might be useful to bring spare socks or other clothes should your child decide to do any enthusiastic puddle jumping!
  • Is there a toilet & baby changing facility on site?
There are toilets available on both sites. There are baby changing facilities at Harrold-Odell Country Park but not at Ickwell Nature Reserve.
  • Will food and drinks be available?
I provide tea, coffee, squash and biscuits but please bring any additional snack and a water bottle. I would appreciate it if you could bring a sealable, reusable cup for tea and coffee.
  • What age groups are your sessions for?
At Harrold-Odell Country Park Nature Tots sessions children from 0 - 5.
  • How accessible are your sessions?
Wheelchair access is limited with areas of uneven ground. There are no disabled toilet facilities at Ickwell. I have delivered lots of sessions for people with limited mobility and additional needs, it is probably best to contact me and I will do my best to support you in accessing my sessions and answer any questions you may have. I have a diversity and equality policy that is available on request.
  • Do you have an equalities policy?
I recognise that access to nature has historically excluded ethnic minorities and those with disabilities. I warmly welcome everyone to my sessions and do not accept any discriminatory behaviour. You do not need to have prior experience to join in with my sessions. My full policy is available on request.
  • Do you take photos or videos at your sessions and do you share them online or elsewhere for promotional purposes?
I always ask for consent for Secret Garden Forest School to publish photographs, video or audio recordings of, or including, you or your child in Secret Garden Forest School publications, websites, external outlets including newspapers, social media sites. These images can be used at any point in the future without limitation and without charge. Having images of my sessions really helps in sharing what we do but I completely understand if people do not want to give consent. There will be an option to select yes or no when you book.
